2015 Annual General Meeting

2 06 2015

The McKellar Park Community Association held its Annual General Meeting the evening of Sunday, 31 May, at the McKellar Park Fieldhouse. President Seema Lamba, in her President’s Report, reviewed the MPCA’s activities for the past year including the Fall Festival, assisting with the implementation of new park seating, the funding for which had been previously raised in the community, and outreach regarding the LRT.  Emerging issues for the neighborhood were identified, including mitigating LRT impacts, particularly for the Unitarian Campus, replanting trees, future improvement of neighborhood parks, traffic safety, infill / development planning, and community mailboxes.

Councillor Jeff Leiper, guest speaker, offered his input on these and other issues.  He gave some much-needed insight into the possible bus detours during LRT construction phases, the mitigation of impacts at Cleary and Dominion stations and traffic calming in general.

Nadia Thorne also reported for a new committee concerned about safe access crossing Sherbourne Avenue. Finally, Lesley Taylor reported as Treasurer of the MPCA and two new directors were elected into the Executive Dan O’Hagan and Nadia Thorne, as were returning directors Stella Militano and Julie Pandeya.
