Sherbourne Road safety recommendations

2 06 2016

More kids and more cars are adding up to a potentially dangerous mix on Sherbourne Road.

Because of this, the winding connection between Carling Avenue and Byron Avenue was the subject of an active transportation audit last fall, conducted jointly by community members, west-end Councillors, and staff and volunteers from Ecology Ottawa.

The observations and recommendations have been compiled into a safety report by Ecology Ottawa’s Complete Streets initiative. The report and its recommendations were sent to Carlingwood and McKellar Park city Councillors Mark Taylor and Jeff Leiper; as well as city planners.

The report’s recommendations for making the roadway a better place for kids, pedestrians and cyclists are to be considered by the city for its upcoming traffic calming initiatives and WLRT planning. The respective community associations and study primes will be meeting with Councillors Taylor and Leiper to discuss the proposed recommendations shortly.
