Welcome to the fall edition

Fall has arrived, bringing with it our Annual General Meeting (AGM), detailed just below, and an All Candidates Debate for the federal election (see page 2). It also brings to an end, we hope, more roadwork than any summer in recent memory. The Sherbourne remake is now complete. Work on Richmond Road watermains continues. LRT preparations have been going on for most of the summer. And next spring, the actual LRT construction will begin on the Parkway. Hope to see you at the debate and the AGM!

Annual General Meeting, Monday Oct. 28

Come out to our Annual General Meeting at the McKellar Park Field House from 7 to 10 pm on Oct. 28. Speakers include David Fraser from the Red Cross on Personal Emergency Preparedness, our city Councillor Jeff Leiper and Constable Jeff Kostuch, our community police officer. There will also be elections and a call for volunteers.

Tree removal for Stage 2 LRT

The City has advised that trees and vegetation will be cleared from several areas for Stage 2 Light Rail Transit site preparation, including part of Byron Linear Park and the SJAM parkway between Dominion and Cleary. Work will start the first week of October and continue through November. It is being done now to avoid impacting the 2020 bird nesting and bat roosting seasons, and for construction to remain on-schedule. A tree inventory and replacement plan will guide how the greenspaces will be restored. On average, two trees will be replanted for every one removed. For further information, see the Sept. 12 posting at or email

Richmond Road watermain renewal

This project will continue until November. Eastbound Richmond Rd. traffic has been detoured to Byron between Redwood and Fraser. In this section of Byron, parking is prohibited, and on-road cycling lanes and pedestrian crosswalks have been provided at Wavell and Westminster. For more details, see
